SCC Joins Global Coalition in EU AI Act Consultation The SCC Arbitration Institute has joined 15 leading arbitration and dispute resolution institutions in a coordinated response to the European Commission's consultation on draft guidelines for classifying high-risk AI systems under the EU AI Act. The joint letter, signed on 23 July 2026, calls on the Commission to clarify two key points before the guidelines are finalised: 1. That high-risk obligations under Annex III, point 8(a) attach to AI systems used by arbitral tribunals in their adjudicative function, not to AI systems used by arbitral institutions for administrative and organisational purposes. Arbitral institutions administer proceedings. They do not decide the merits of disputes. 2. That the characterisation of investment dispute bodies in the draft guidelines be corrected.
