From 10-13 June 2025, students and practitioners alike gathered in Frankfurt for the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court. The SCC, with thanks to Board member Sven Lange, organised a timely and engaging discussion hosted by Clifford Chance Germany on one of the fieldโs most debated topics: the independence and impartiality of arbitrators.
Moderated by Dr Sven Lange, the event brought together a range of perspectives from leading voices in the field:
- Moritz Keller
- Nicolas Angelet
- Laura Hardin
- Anne K. Hoffmann
- Azal Khan
Through interactive straw polls and lively exchanges, the panel explored questions such as:
- Can a tweet cost you your seat?
- Is being a godparent too close for comfort?
- How do the latest IBA Guidelines reshape our understanding of impartiality?
Prior to the discussion, the SCCโs Jake Lowther presented on a new SCC report, โArbitrating for Peace: Stockholm,โฆ
