From 7-11 April 2025, Jake Lowther represented the SCC at the UNCITRAL Working Group III session on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) Reform in New York. Among the items discussed include the proposal for an appeals tribunal of a standing mechanism for international investment dispute resolution, as well as local remedies, waiver, denial of benefits and the right to regulate in respect to draft provisions on procedural and cross-cutting issues.
While in New York, Jake met with Joakim Soederbaum and Mauro Wolfe from Duane Morris, to discuss the latest trends in international arbitration and dispute resolution. He also attended an afterwork mingle hosted by Gretta Walters and the team at Chaffetz Lindsey LLP. Many thanks to all who attended.
