𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: 𝟭𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗖𝗖 We are pleased to share our latest Practice Note on emergency arbitrator decisions from 2023 to 2025, published as the SCC marks 15 years since becoming the first major international arbitration institution to introduce emergency arbitration in 2010. Authored by SCC Specialist Counsel Jake Lowther and Frederik Hummelmose, former SCC intern, the report highlights the following key developments: • 80% of emergency decisions rendered within the five-day time limit – a marked improvement in procedural efficiency. • The 2023–2025 period confirms that whilst obtaining emergency relief remains challenging, the process continues to deliver timely decisions whilst maintaining rigorous standards. • Nearly 70 applications received since 2010, confirming the mechanism as a reliable and effective tool for urgent interim relief.
